Nomenclatural History

This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 48 in 1994. The species Carbophilus carboxidus was originally described by Nozhevnikova and Zavarzin 1974. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1993 the name was revived by Meyer et al.. In 2020, Hördt et al. established Carbophilus carboxidus as the basonym of
Aminobacter carboxidus (Meyer et al. 1994) Hördt et al. 2020
