The species Ensifer arboris was originally described and validly published by Young 2003. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Young formed this name in 2003 by placing the species Nick et al. 1999 into the genus Casida 1982 emend. Kuzmanović et al. 2022.
