Nomenclatural History	The species Methanothermobacter thermautotrophicus was originally described and validly published by Wasserfallen et al. 2000. Wasserfallen et al. formed this name in 2000 by placing the species Methanobacterium thermautotrophicum corrig. Zeikus and Wolfe 1972 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Touzel et al. 1992 into the genus Methanothermobacter Wasserfallen et al. 2000.
