Nomenclatural History
The species Brucella melitensis was originally described by Meyer and Shaw 1920. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Verger et al. published an emended description of this species in 1985. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Hördt et al. in 2020.
