Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 15 in 1984. The species Phyllobacterium myrsinacearum was originally described by Knösel 1962. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1984 the name was revived by Knösel. Hameed et al. published an emended description of this species in 2015. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Mergaert et al. in 2002. Mergaert et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (ex von Faber 1912) Knösel 1984 emend. Hördt et al. 2020 in 2002.
