Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 15 in 1984. The species Phyllobacterium rubiacearum was originally described by von Faber 1912. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1984 the name was revived by Knösel. Mergaert et al. published an emended description of this species in 2002. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Hördt et al. in 2020. Mergaert et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (ex Knösel 1962) Knösel 1984 emend. Hameed et al. 2015 in 2002.
