The species Defluvibacter lusatiensis was originally described by Fritsche et al. 1999. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 71 in 1999. Upon validation, this name was corrected from Defluvibacter lusatiae (sic) to Defluvibacter lusatiensis . In 2009, Kämpfer et al. established Defluvibacter lusatiensis as the basonym of
Aquamicrobium lusatiense (Fritsche et al. 1999) Kämpfer et al. 2009
