The genus Agromonas was originally proposed by Ohta and Hattori 1983. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 17 in 1985. Ramírez-Bahena et al. transferred the members of this genus into
Bradyrhizobium Jordan 1982
in 2013.
