The species Blastobacter aggregatus was originally described by Hirsch and Müller 1985. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 20 in 1986. In 2011, Kaur et al. established as the basonym of (Hirsch and Müller 1986) Kaur et al. 2011 .
