The species Blastobacter capsulatus was originally described by Hirsch and Müller 1985. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 20 in 1986. In 2015, Mousavi et al. established as the basonym of (Hirsch and Müller 1986) Mousavi et al. 2016 .
