Nomenclatural History
The species Rhodopseudomonas rutila was originally described and validly published by Akiba et al. 1983. Hiraishi et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (Molisch 1907) van Niel 1944 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Venkata Ramana et al. 2012 in 1992.
