The family Hyphomicrobiaceae was originally proposed by Babudieri 1950. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this family in 2020. This name replaces the name Takeuchi et al. 2014 . This name replaces the name Doronina et al. 2013 .
