Nomenclatural History	The species Blastochloris viridis was originally described and validly published by Hiraishi 1997. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Hiraishi formed this name in 1997 by placing the species Rhodopseudomonas viridis Drews and Giesbrecht 1966 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Blastochloris Hiraishi 1997.
