Nomenclatural History
The genus Prosthecomicrobium was originally proposed by Staley 1968. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Staley published an emended description of this genus in 1974. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Staley in 1984 and Yee et al. in 2010.
