Nomenclatural History
|
The species Methylobacterium dichloromethanicum was originally described by Doronina et al. 2000. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 77 in 2000. Kato et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Methylobacterium extorquens (Urakami and Komagata 1984) Bousfield and Green 1985 emend. Kato et al. 2008
in 2005. In 2020, Hördt et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form
Methylobacterium dichloromethanicum dichloromethanicum (Doronina et al. 2000) Hördt et al. 2020
