The species Burkholderia hospita was originally described by Goris et al. 2002. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 89 in 2003. In 2014, Sawana et al. established Burkholderia hospita as the basonym of
Paraburkholderia hospita (Goris et al. 2003) Sawana et al. 2015
.
