The species Burkholderia tuberum was originally described by Vandamme et al. 2002. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 91 in 2003. In 2014, Sawana et al. established as the basonym of (Vandamme et al. 2003) Sawana et al. 2015 .
