Nomenclatural History
The species Polynucleobacter necessarius was originally described and validly published by Heckmann and Schmidt 1987. Hahn et al. published an emended description of this species in 2009. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Hahn et al. in 2016. In 2009, Hahn et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Heckmann and Schmidt 1987) Hahn et al. 2009 .
