The species Wautersia respiraculi was originally described and validly published by Vaneechoutte et al. 2004. In 2004, Vandamme and Coenye established as the basonym of (Coenye et al. 2003) Vandamme and Coenye 2004 . Vaneechoutte et al. formed this name in 2004 by placing the species Coenye et al. 2003 into the genus Vaneechoutte et al. 2004.
