The species Wautersia taiwanensis was originally described and validly published by Vaneechoutte et al. 2004. In 2004, Vandamme and Coenye established Wautersia taiwanensis as the basonym of
Cupriavidus taiwanensis (Chen et al. 2001) Vandamme and Coenye 2004
. Vaneechoutte et al. formed this name in 2004 by placing the species
Ralstonia taiwanensis Chen et al. 2001
into the genus Wautersia Vaneechoutte et al. 2004.
