Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Achromobacter xylosoxidans denitrificans was originally described by Yabuuchi et al. 1998. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 67 in 1998. Yabuuchi et al. established as an earlier homotypic synonym of (Rüger and Tan 1983) Coenye et al. 2003 pro synon. Achromobacter xylosoxidans denitrificans (Rüger and Tan 1983) Yabuuchi et al. 1998 in 1998. In 1998, Yabuuchi et al. reduced (ex Leifson and Hugh 1954) Rüger and Tan 1983 to the rank of subspecies.
