Nomenclatural History
The genus Bordetella was originally proposed by Moreno-López 1952. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Pittman published an emended description of this genus in 1974. A subsequent emendation was proposed by von Wintzingerode et al. in 2001.
