Nomenclatural History
The species Comamonas terrigena was originally described by Hugh 1962. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1985 the name was revived and validly published by De Vos et al.. Willems et al. published an emended description of this species in 1991. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Wauters et al. in 2003. Willems et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Hylemon et al. 1973 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1991.
