The species Hydrogenophaga flava was originally described and validly published by Willems et al. 1989. Willems et al. formed this name in 1989 by placing the species
Pseudomonas flava (Niklewski 1910) Davis et al. 1969 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Hydrogenophaga Willems et al. 1989.
