Nomenclatural History
The species Methanoculleus oldenburgensis was originally described by Blotevogel et al. 1992. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 64 in 1998. Asakawa and Nagaoka established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of corrig. (Ollivier et al. 1986) Maestrojuán et al. 1990 emend. Asakawa and Nagaoka 2003 in 2003.
