Nomenclatural History
The genus Rhodoferax was originally proposed by Hiraishi et al. 1991. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 40 in 1992. Kaden et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2014. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Farh et al. in 2017.
