Nomenclatural History
The species Methanoculleus olentangyi was originally described and validly published by Maestrojuán et al. 1990. Maestrojuán et al. formed this name in 1990 by placing the species corrig. Corder et al. 1988 into the genus Maestrojuán et al. 1990. Asakawa and Nagaoka established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of corrig. (Ollivier et al. 1986) Maestrojuán et al. 1990 emend. Asakawa and Nagaoka 2003 in 2003.
