The species Thiobacillus concretivorus was originally described by Parker 1945. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Kelly and Wood established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Thiobacillus thiooxidans Waksman and Joffe 1922 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 2000. In 2019, Boden and Hutt established Thiobacillus concretivorus as the basonym of
Acidithiobacillus concretivorus (Parker 1945) Boden and Hutt 2021
