The species Thiobacillus versutus was originally described and validly published by Harrison 1983. In 1995, Katayama et al. established as the basonym of (Harrison 1983) Katayama et al. 1996 emend. Liu et al. 2020 . Katayama et al. established as an earlier homotypic synonym of Katayama-Fujimura et al. 1983 pro synon. Thiobacillus versutus Harrison 1983 in 1995.
