Nomenclatural History
The species Aquaspirillum aquaticum was originally described by Hylemon et al. 1973. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Willems et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (ex Hugh 1962) De Vos et al. 1985 emend. Wauters et al. 2003 in 1991. In 2003, Wauters et al. established as the basonym of (Hylemon et al. 1973) Wauters et al. 2003 .
