Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Aquaspirillum itersonii itersonii was originally described by Hylemon et al. 1973. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1973, Hylemon et al. reduced (Giesberger 1936) Hylemon et al. 1973 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of subspecies. In 2005, Pot and Gillis established as the basonym of (Giesberger 1936) Pot and Gillis 2005 . In 2007, Yoon et al. established as the basonym of (Giesberger 1936) Yoon et al. 2007 .
