Nomenclatural History
The species Nitrosospira multiformis was originally described by Head et al. 1993. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 54 in 1995. Head et al. formed this name in 1993 by placing the species Watson et al. 1971 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Winogradsky and Winogradsky 1933 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Head et al. 1993.
