Nomenclatural History
|
The genus Gallionella was originally proposed by Ehrenberg 1838. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was placed onto the nomina taxorum conservanda by Judicial Opinion 9 in 1954. Zavarzin and Hirsch published an emended description of this genus in 1974.
