Nomenclatural History
The species Methanogenium thermophilicum was originally described and validly published by Rivard and Smith 1982. Zabel et al. published an emended description of this species in 1985. In 1990, Maestrojuán et al. established as the basonym of corrig. (Rivard and Smith 1982) Maestrojuán et al. 1990 emend. Spring et al. 2005 .
