The species Amoebobacter pedioformis was originally described by Eichler and Pfennig 1986. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 23 in 1987. In 1998, Guyoneaud et al. established as the basonym of (Eichler and Pfennig 1987) Guyoneaud et al. 1998 .
