Nomenclatural History
The genus Lamprocystis was originally proposed by Schroeter 1886. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Pfennig and Trüper published an emended description of this genus in 1974. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Imhoff in 2001. Imhoff transferred the members of Tindall 1999 into this genus in 2001.
