Nomenclatural History

The species Methanocorpusculum parvum was originally described by Zellner et al. 1987. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 24 in 1988. Chong and Boone established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Methanocorpusculum aggregans (Ollivier et al. 1985) Xun et al. 1989
in 2001.
