Nomenclatural History
The genus Thiocapsa was originally proposed by Winogradsky 1888. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Pfennig and Trüper published an emended description of this genus in 1974. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Guyoneaud et al. in 1998. Guyoneaud et al. transferred the members of Winogradsky 1888 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Guyoneaud et al. 1998 into this genus in 1998.
