Nomenclatural History
The species Ectothiorhodospira vacuolata was originally described by Imhoff et al. 1981. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 8 in 1982. Ventura et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Cherni et al. 1969 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Ventura et al. 2000 in 2000.
