Proper Form
| Xanthomonadales Saddler and Bradbury 2005 |
Nomenclatural History
|
The order Xanthomonadales was originally proposed by Saddler and Bradbury 2005. This name was validly published by Euzéby 2005. Naushad et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Lysobacterales Christensen and Cook 1978 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Naushad et al. 2015
in 2015.
The Judicial Commission asserted that this order is illegitimate unless it is formally emended to exclude the genera Lysobacter and Nevskia, which are nomenclatural types for orders that have priority over this taxon.
