Proper Form
| Xanthomonadaceae Saddler and Bradbury 2005 |
Nomenclatural History
|
The family Xanthomonadaceae was originally proposed by Saddler and Bradbury 2005. This name was validly published by Euzéby 2005. Naushad et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Lysobacteraceae Christensen and Cook 1978 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Naushad et al. 2015
in 2015.
Tindall 2014 asserts that this family is illegitimate unless it is formally emended to exclude the genera Lysobacter and Nevskia, which are nomenclatural types for families that have priority over this taxon.
