Nomenclatural History
The species Xanthomonas axonopodis was originally described by Starr and Garces 1950. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Constantin et al. published an emended description of this species in 2016. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Vauterin et al. in 1995.
