Nomenclatural History	The species Stenotrophomonas maltophilia was originally described and validly published by Palleroni and Bradbury 1993. Palleroni and Bradbury formed this name in 1993 by placing the species Xanthomonas maltophilia (Hugh 1981) Swings et al. 1983 into the genus Stenotrophomonas Palleroni and Bradbury 1993 emend. Ouattara et al. 2017. Coenye et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Stenotrophomonas africana Drancourt et al. 1997 in 2004.
