Nomenclatural History
The genus Legionella was originally proposed by Brenner et al. 1979. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Saini and Gupta published an emended description of this genus in 2021. Hookey et al. transferred the members of Drozanski 1991 into this genus in 1996.
