The species Legionella lytica was originally described and validly published by Hookey et al. 1996. Hookey et al. formed this name in 1996 by placing the species Drozanski 1991 into the genus Brenner et al. 1979 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Saini and Gupta 2021.
