Nomenclatural History
The species Methylomicrobium pelagicum was originally described and validly published by Bowman et al. 1995. Bowman et al. formed this name in 1995 by placing the species (Sieburth et al. 1988) Bowman et al. 1993 into the genus Bowman et al. 1995 emend. Orata et al. 2018. In 2018, Orata et al. established as the basonym of (Sieburth et al. 1988) Orata et al. 2018 .
