Nomenclatural History
|
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 15 in 1984. The genus Methylomonas was originally proposed by Leadbetter 1974. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1984 the name was revived by Whittenbury and Krieg. Bowman et al. published an emended description of this genus in 1993.
