Nomenclatural History
The genus Oceanospirillum was originally proposed by Hylemon et al. 1973. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Pot et al. published an emended description of this genus in 1989. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Satomi et al. in 2002.
