Oceanospirillum maris williamsae Linn and Krieg 1984 emend. Pot et al. 1989
Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Oceanospirillum maris williamsae was originally described by Linn and Krieg 1978. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 15 in 1984. Pot et al. published an emended description of this subspecies in 1989.

Satomi et al. (2002) assert that this subspecies should be rejected, which would effectively undo the changes made by Pot et al. (1989). However, no formal request for opinion was made and the subspecies continue to have standing in nomenclature.
