Nomenclatural History
The species Oceanospirillum vagum was originally described by Bowditch et al. 1984. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 16 in 1984. van Landschoot and De Ley established as a later homotypic synonym of (Baumann et al. 1972) van Landschoot and De Ley 1984 in 1983. Bowditch et al. formed this name in 1984 by placing the species Baumann et al. 1972 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Hylemon et al. 1973 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Satomi et al. 2002.
